Overview

Inedge Power has completed factory testing and shipment of six 5 MWh-class battery energy storage systems for a grid-side solar-plus-storage project in Southeast Asia. The 30 MWh delivery is designed around the realities of an island nation where heat, moisture, salt-laden air and earthquakes are part of daily operation. The units have left Inedge Power’s Jiangsu factory in China and are now on the sea route to the destination. It is another grid-side solar-plus-storage deployment for Inedge Power in Southeast Asia.

Challenge: A harsh environment for storage

The destination combines a tropical rainforest climate with active geology. High temperatures, year-round humidity often above 80%, coastal salt spray and seismic risk place severe demands on thermal management, enclosure protection, structural strength and long-term reliability. For this project, standard protection was not enough.

Factory testing: no shortcuts in the heat

Before shipment, the systems went through a demanding factory test program. Even with extreme shop-floor temperatures, engineers stayed beside the liquid-cooling units, monitoring temperature-control data on screen. The test simulated the destination’s high-temperature environment and ran continuous full-load charge and discharge cycles to validate the liquid-cooling system’s load capacity and temperature-control accuracy.

“With a 60 kW liquid-cooling unit, 314 Ah cells and a 1P416S cluster design, thermal management is the lifeline,” said an on-site project leader. “We require cell-to-cell temperature difference within 5°C, with full data traceability. If it does not pass, it does not ship—we keep testing until it does.”

Fire suppression was also verified in multiple trigger simulations. The perfluorohexanone system was tested from detection and alarm through to agent release, with every step checked for correct logic and timely response. Each system was fully integrated and run in at the factory, so it can be energized on site without secondary disassembly and commissioning.

Protection: designed for the real environment

To address the site conditions, Inedge Power strengthened the enclosures and structure:

  • C5-class anti-corrosion coating
  • Stainless steel for key connection components
  • IP54 sealing further enhanced to block salt-laden, humid air
  • Seismic simulation and structural design for geologically active areas

These measures target the main failure paths in tropical coastal projects: corrosion, moisture ingress and structural stress.

Grid integration: fast response at 35 kV
The systems connect directly to the grid at 35 kV. With the EMS fast-response strategy, they can provide millisecond-level power regulation during grid fluctuations, supporting frequency response and peak shaving/valley filling for the local PV plant. The control logic was also simulated and verified multiple times before shipment to reduce site risk.

System-level integration by Inedge Power
From BMS strategy and liquid-cooling coordination to fire-suppression logic and EMS dispatch, Inedge Power completed the system-level matching in-house. During product development, the team ran dedicated tests for high-temperature/high-humidity operation, accelerated salt-spray aging and seismic waveform vibration. Mass production began only after the data met requirements.

Warranty and service
The project includes a 5-year warranty on cells and a 2-year warranty on the complete system. Behind this commitment is Inedge Power’s remote O&M platform, which provides real-time monitoring and early warning. For overseas projects, the goal is to use digital tools to identify and resolve issues before they become failures.

From factory to sea
The six units have been tested, packed, loaded and shipped. After several weeks at sea, they will arrive at the destination. From testing and packing to loading and shipment, the team completed each step with care. Inedge Power does not make flashy promises. We complete the tests that must be done and apply the protection that must be applied.

However far the mountains and seas, responsibility arrives.
